Emergent Crowd Behavior
We investigate experimentally the behavior of boids, simple agents following three simple rules of conduct. In crowds these agents can exhibit a collective pattern of movement that imitates flocking animal behavior as well as other types of crowds.
متن کاملEmergent Crowd Behavior from the Microsimulation of Individual Pedestrians
Modeling pedestrian traffic at the micro-level is a relatively young research area. The key to success is driven on the ability to appropriately model crowd behavior that arises in pedestrian traffic. One method of validation for such simulation models examines their ability to reproduce commonly observed crowd behavior. This paper demonstrates how commonly observed crowd behavior emerges from ...
متن کاملModelling Emergent Crowd Behaviour
Using a cellular automata approach we create models of people movement within buildings. Simple, local update rules capturing the movement of individuals are shown to produce realistic behaviour of crowds, that is, collections of individuals. We demonstrate how distinct crowd behaviour at constriction points is characterised using different update rules. These distinct rules are produced in an ...
متن کاملGlobal Anomaly Crowd Behavior Detection Using Crowd Behavior Feature Vector
In the area of crowd abnormal detection, the parameter of population density, is seldom used to the global crowd behavior detection. Some of the references simply use the LBP or spatial-temporal LBP features to fulfill the abnormal detection. They don’t make full use of the crowd density characteristics and dynamic characteristics. This paper proposes a novel method by increasing the dimension ...
متن کاملA data-driven model of pedestrian following and emergent crowd behavior
Pedestrian following is a common behavior, and may provide a key link between individual locomotion and crowd dynamics. Here, we present a model for following that is motivated by cognitive science and grounded in empirical data. In Experiment 1, we collected data from leader-follower pairs, and showed that a simple speed-matching model is sufficient to account for behavior. In Experiment 2, we...
